Increased Fines for Lakefront Parking Violations – May to September

From May 1 to September 30, fines for parking and stopping violations will increase to $100 on local roads, City parks and municipal parking lots south of Lakeshore Road, from the east city limits to Meadow Wood Rd. Parking violations occurring between 2 – 6 a.m. are exempt from the increased fines.

The fines have been increased in an effort to reduce traffic congestion and illegal parking in these areas, which can impact neighbourhood safety and access for emergency service vehicles. These areas become particularly busy during the spring and summer months as residents and visitors are drawn to the city’s lakefront to make use of the parks, trails and amenities.

To provide additional parking for lakefront visitors, the city has secured a parking agreement withPort Credit Secondary School. Free parking will be available evenings and weekends during the school year and all summer at this location. The City is pursuing similar arrangements with other locations and will provide updates here.

The City is committed to keeping Mississauga’s lakefront neighbourhoods safe and attractive for residents and visitors to enjoy. Residents and visitors should park only in permitted areas within parks or adjacent neighbourhoods. If the parking lot is full, please consider exploring one of the other 500 parks in Mississauga. Residents and visitors are also encouraged to consider walking, cycling or taking transit to enjoy the city’s lakefront parks and neighbourhoods.

Thank you for working with us to keep our lakefront community safe and beautiful.
